Yes, students can submit video assignments.
One recommended method is to use a Panopto Assignment folder, outlined below.
However, if you have previously used an alternative approach (for example, asking students to share a link to a video stored in Google Drive), you may continue using that method.
Whichever option you choose, you are welcome to contact the Digital Media and E-Learning Developers (DMeLDs) to discuss your requirements or seek guidance.
Note: We do not recommend allowing students to upload video files directly (e.g., MP4 files) to a Coursework dropbox. Large file sizes may exceed upload limits and prevent successful submission.
Panopto video assignment
A Panopto Assignment folder is a dedicated area within your course’s Panopto video library where students can submit video content. This tool is particularly useful for organising and managing video-based assessments, including multimedia submissions such as narrated PowerPoint presentations.
Students will first upload their videos to the Panopto Video Library, share appropriately, and then include a link to the video when they submit.
Setting up a Panopto Assignment folder
To enable students to submit Panopto videos to an assessment dropbox, you can create a Panopto Assignment folder. For step-by-step instructions, please refer to this guide: How do I set up a video assignment in Panopto for student submissions?
