There are several ways to identify the submissions in a Coursework activity without revealing identities. Once the sample is identified using one of the methods below, the moderator can be provided either with the list of IDs in their sample (e.g. via email) or via one of the automated features if you are not marking anonymously. The moderator can then enter their moderation comments by clicking the Moderate button under the ‘Moderation agreement’ column in the assessment dropbox.
Method 1: You can identify a sample set using IDs.
Each submission in the Coursework activity has a unique submission ID. This ID is listed in the column labelled ‘Submission files/Online Text/Submission ID’. (Please note that the title of this column will change based on what type of submission is allowed.)
There are other ways to identify the submission for moderation. For example, each dropbox with Turnitin enabled will include a Turnitin ID alongside the other details of the submission. You can provide the moderator with the list of the Turnitin submission IDs for them to moderate.
Method 2: You can identify a sample set using automation.
In a coursework activity there are options for manual or automatic sampling. This feature is used to allocate students to specific moderators or second-markers (called assessors in the Coursework activity) for the moderation or second-marking process. It is not possible to allocate individual submissions with anonymity intact. You should not use the settings in the coursework activity for sampling if you must mark and moderate anonymously.
