If you become aware of a potential breach of the Academic Conduct regulations, please complete the following steps:
Step 1. Flag the submission in the assessment submission dropbox:
To flag a submission for plagiarism:
- Go to the settings of the Coursework dropbox.
- Navigate to the ‘Submissions‘ section.
- Set ‘Enable Plagiarism flagging‘ to Yes.
Return to the submission dropbox, locate the assessment you wish to flag and click the Flag plagiarism button.
A new window will open, select the Initial Investigation (marks will be withheld) status, add any relevant comments, and then click Save.
Step 2. Use ‘Switch role to…’ to un-mask the student names
If your Coursework activity has blind marking enabled, student names will appear as ‘hidden’. Therefore, in order to identify a student’s submission for your referral form you will need to first switch into a role that has permission to view students’ names temporarily.
- Go to the Coursework dropbox.
- Click your initials or profile photo from the top right corner of Moodle.
- Click Switch role to…
- In ‘Switch role to..’ scroll to the bottom of the list of roles and choose Coursework Un-Mask Names.
- This will allow you to temporarily reveal student identities and make note of the student’s name and submission ID for the referral form.
- To return to your normal role, click your initials or profile photo from the top right corner of Moodle. (Note: the type of role you have temporarily switched into will appear in this corner as well in this case ‘Coursework Un-Mask Names’.)
- Click Return to my normal role.
Step 3. Complete the Academic Conduct Referral form:
Complete the Academic Conduct Referral Form in ServiceNow.
The form will be sent to the Student Investigation and Resolution Team (SIRT).
