How do I check similarity in a Coursework activity?

If your assessment has Turnitin enabled, when a student submits their work in Coursework, you will see a column called Turnitin/Grademark. That column will display the similarity percentage. Clicking the percentage will open Turnitin Feedback Studio, which will show the similarity report and allow marking using Grademark.

Note: For most Coursework activities, Turnitin has been enabled by default based on the assessment description and should be enabled when the activities are automatically deployed.

If you do not see the Turnitin/Grademark column, Turnitin may not be enabled for your dropbox. You can check in the dropbox settings to determine which need to be adjusted to enable Turnitin in the dropbox.

To check you Turnitin settings in a Coursework activity:

  1. Turn edit mode on in your course (top right corner).
  2. Find the Coursework activity in the Assessment section of your module.
  3. Click the three dots next to the activity.
  4. Select Edit Settings.
  5. Scroll down to the ‘Turnitin settings section and check to see if ‘Enable Turnitin’ is set to Yes.

If Turnitin is not enabled when student’s start submitting their work, these submissions will not be submitted to Turnitin for checking. If you enable Turnitin after there are submissions in the dropbox, you should enable Turnitin as shown in the steps above and then contact your Faculty DMeLD for more assistance or raise a ticket in ServiceNow.
