How do I add headings and subheadings to Moodle?

To add headings and subheadings to your Moodle course, you should use the Text and media area resource. The Text and media area resource serves as a spacer that displays its content directly onto a Moodle course page. Use a Text and media area to add text, images, multimedia and more between other resources.

First, add a Text and media area resource.

  1. In your course homepage, turn editing on.
  2. Go to a section in your course and click Add an activity or resource.
  3. Choose Text and media area and click Add.
  4. In the General section there is a space to add your text.
  5. Click the down arrow next to the A icon to choose the heading style for your text. A common section is Lectures, select Heading 3 (large) and add the title of the lecture.
  6. Once done, click Save and return to course.

Second, organise your activities and resources.

  1. In your course homepage, turn editing on.
  2. Add activities and resources, such as a File.
  3. Use the four way arrow icon to the left of the activity or resource to move it.
  4. To better organise files, indent them so that there is a clear outline and structure.
  5. Click Edit to the right of activity or resource.
  6. Then click Move right to indent.
  7. Once done, click anywhere on the page to save.
