How do I add headings and subheadings to Moodle?

To add headings and subheadings to your Moodle course, you should use the Label resource. The Label resource serves as a spacer that displays its content directly onto a Moodle course page. Use a Label to add text, images, multimedia, and more between other resources.

First, add a Label resource.

  1. In your course homepage, turn editing on.
  2. Go to a section in your course and click Add an activity or resource.
  3. Choose Label and click Add.
  4. Use Label text to add a heading.
  5. Click the down arrow next to the A icon to choose the heading style for your text. A common section is Lectures, select Heading (medium) and ‘Lectures: Slides and Resources’.
  6. Once done, click Save and return to course.

Second, organise your activities and resources.

  1. In your course homepage, turn editing on.
  2. Add activities and resources, such as a File.
  3. Use the four way arrow icon to the left of the activity or resource to move it.
  4. To better organise files, indent them so that there is a clear outline and structure. Click Edit to the right of activity or resource.
  5. Then click Move right to indent.
  6. Once done, click anywhere on the page to save.
