How do I add a block in Moodle?

Blocks appear on the right side of your Moodle course. Examples of commonly used blocks are reading lists and recent announcements. You can add additional blocks, for example, the accessibility block.

If the block you want to add to your module or Dashboard doesn’t appear in the list of blocks, then it has already been added to the right hand side. You may need to scroll down to see it.

To add a block to your module:

  1. Turn editing on.
  2. Scroll all the way down the Navigation sidebar on the left.
  3. At the bottom click Add a block.
  4. Choose the block you want from the list presented.
  5. The block will appear on the right side of your course.
  6. You can move  a block up or down.

To add a block to your Moodle Dashboard:

  1. Click Customise this page (top right).
  2. Scroll all the way down the Navigation sidebar on the left.
  3. At the bottom click Add a block.
  4. Choose the block you want from the list presented.
  5. The block will appear on the right side of your course.
  6. You can move  a block up/down or to the middle.
