Markers will be able to mark as soon as the student’s submission is finalised. By default, students have the ability to either save their submission as a ‘draft’ or to ‘Submit and finalise’. If a student has not finalised their submission, the option ‘Add final feedback’ won’t be available in the Feedback and Grading columns for that submission.
All submissions are automatically finalised when their submission deadline has been reached.
To check if the default settings have been enabled:
- Turn edit mode on in your course (top right corner).
- Find the Coursework activity in the Assessment section of your module.
- Click the three dots next to the activity.
- Select Edit Settings.
- Scroll down to the ‘Availability‘ section.
- Make sure that ‘Allow students to finalise their submissions before the deadline so that assessors can mark them straight away’ to Yes.
If you change the Availability setting to No (i.e. that students are not allowed to finalise their submissions before the deadline), then you will need to wait for the student’s deadline to pass before you will be able to start marking.
